about

Following his ‘James Crown’ 45, pure spielerei led to another serious piece of wax by Dutch producer Kid Sundance. This time he solely used the SP-12 and SP-1200 to tip his hip-hop hat to three living legends.

“I Went for Wine” is an instrumental near-remake of a classic cut from 1992. The original track was never released as an instrumental. So Kid Sundance got to work to recreate the beat, staying true to the original sequencing. For his own listening pleasure—and now yours. A full 4-minute, slightly slower version. Because, you know, “the object of a song is to keep your head moving.”

A disco single lying around in Kid Sundance’s studio ignited the spark for the B-side track. He always wanted to do “something” with that obscure find. With Kid, an idea like that is bound to escalate into something funky. And so it did: what started out as an uptempo remake of a classic 90s album skit, got blessed with added cuts, a ten-second touch of pimp talk, and a funky second part entirely made on the E-mu SP-12. A real guessing game for the old heads...

The ‘James Crown’ 45 sold out in a matter of days (like this 45, no repress!). So a little over a year later, it’s time to get down again with this vinyl-only drop by Kid Sundance a.k.a. Raimond G a.k.a. Big Kid Skeem… Presented once again by Dutch Gems & Rucksack Records.
